Ⅰ Cornell Dubilier Company Profile

Introduction

Cornell Dubilier Electronics, Inc. is an American privately held company that has won a global reputation for manufacturing high-quality high-end capacitors. Almost all of the company's capacitors are used in demanding industrial applications and stand out from the competition.

Cornell Dubilier Electronics provides the best capacitor solutions and insights. In applications ranging from fighter jets to radar systems, from welding machines to wind turbines, Cornell Dubilier provides the highest quality capacitors.

Cornell Dubilier's capacitors are known for their uncompromising reliability. Each capacitor line has undergone rigorous testing. The company takes all factors into consideration, including application conditions, capacitor wear rates, reliability models, etc. . As the largest power capacitor company in North America, Cornell Dubilier offers one of the world's widest selections of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, mica capacitors, AC film capacitors  and DC film capacitors. Cornell Dubilier is also the only manufacturer of high-quality mica capacitors in the United States.

Before the CDE name was used on a capacitor, it was thoroughly tested to meet all key electrical characteristics. Depending on the type of capacitor, further thermal, electrical and mechanical tests (pulse, shock and vibration, humidity) may be performed. Cornell Dubilier is advancing new applications of capacitor technology and driving recent innovations. Cornell Dubilier's expansion of the Flatpack aluminum electrolytic capacitor product line now includes designs to handle high-vibration packages up to 80g.

The company provides more personalized sales, products and technical support. The company has established a global team composed of capacitor experts, distribution partners and sales support personnel to provide timely and thoughtful services. Cornell Dubilier hopes to become the world's most respected supplier of power capacitors.

Cornell Dubilier History

The roots of Cornell Dubilier can be traced back to 1909, when founder William Dubilier first used a glassy mineral called mica to help form a "condenser" (now called a "capacitor"). Although the success of mica capacitors in its intended application is limited, it continues to revolutionize radio broadcast communications to achieve better transmission over longer distances.

Soon after inventing the mica capacitor, Dubilier began manufacturing capacitors and contributed to the  First World War  by developing a system for detecting submarines. Dubilier Company was the earliest commercial manufacturer of capacitors and merged with Cornell Radio in 1933 to form Cornell Dubilier Electronics (CDE).

Driven by the rise of radio and television broadcasting, the company has experienced astonishing development. By 1966, it had more than 350 patents in the fields of radio and electrical science. Over time, the company further developed into one of the largest capacitor manufacturers in the world.

Ⅳ A Piece Of News about the product

AC HARMONIC FILTER CAPACITORS HAVE DUAL-END OPEN CIRCUIT PROTECTION

Patented design safely expands mounting possibilities.

Cornell Dubilier has introduced the PCD line of high-current AC harmonic filter capacitors, which feature two built-in fail-safe protection devices, one at each end of the capacitor.

Similar capacitors in this category feature one open-circuit pressure device situated under the top cover, which necessitates mounting the capacitor from the bottom stud. The PCD  's terminals can be fastened to a rigid busbar with the addition of a bottom pressure device, allowing the bottom safety device to be activated when appropriate space is supplied at the bottom. When the bottom pressure device is turned on, it expands outward like a bellows.

While these fail-safe devices are meant to avoid case rupture at the end of their service life, PCD  series capacitors are built to be extremely dependable, with a service life of over 60,000 hours at rated voltage and temperature. Their dependability is enhanced by their self-healing, metalized dielectric architecture.

Capacitance ratings of 20 F to 125 F are available in the PCD  series, with voltage ratings ranging from 240 Vac to 600 Vac 50/60Hz. The diameters of the cases range from 63.5mm to 116mm. Capacitance and voltage ratings, as well as sizes and performance characteristics, can all be customized. To properly size capacitors for peak performance, specific application characteristics, particularly harmonic content profiles, are required. M6x1 threaded, tin-plated brass terminations are standard. Other methods of termination are possible.

PCD capacitors are also durable, allowing them to be used in high-humidity conditions. The series has been tested for 1000 hours at 85°C/85 percent RH, putting them in the highest climatic category of Class III-B, according to IEC 60384.

UPS, AC-tuned filters,  AC input filtering, line conditioning, noise suppression, variable-speed drives, and wind turbine monitoring are some of the applications. The PCD  is a step up from European AC power film capacitors, which typically simply include a downward expanding interruption mechanism. When a fail-safe operation is critical, the PCD  series' dual pressure interrupter allows the operator maximum mounting options.
