              Applications                                                                                        Description
               AutomotiveAccelerate automotive systems designs.
It is estimated that 80% of all innovations in the automotive industry today are directly or indirectly enabled by electronics. With vehicle functionality improving with every new model, this means a continuous increase in the semiconductor content per car.
Communications Equipment, Computers and PeripheralsWith the advent of 5G services, the advancement of the Internet of Things, and Cloud services, the future looks bright. To keep up with the flood of data, communications equipment must constantly advance, offering more performance, flexibility, and dependability while retaining high security and low power consumption.
FunctionsElectronic systems and equipment are separated into subsystems, each of which is designed to perform a certain set of functions that, when combined, achieve a given goal. While there are many various ways to partition a system, one practical and effective method is to consider the specific function each sub-system serves to the main system.
IndustrialIndustrial electronics cover a wide range of applications, many of which are used in well-established industries. These industries are experiencing fresh growth as a result of the introduction of new technology and services related with the Internet of Things (IoT). Machines, factories, and workspaces are becoming more efficient as a result of Smart Industry initiatives.
IoT ApplicationsThe Internet of Things (IoT) is allowing billions of connected smart gadgets to speak with one another over the nearly ubiquitous Internet Protocol. Almost any system can use the Internet and the Cloud Computing eco-system to innovate and make a wide range of devices smarter and more aware thanks to the Internet of Things. The widespread availability of high-quality, dependable wireless connectivity, as well as low-cost, low-power embedded components, is driving the development in the number of internet-connected devices. While IoT devices come in a variety of shapes and sizes, they always require the same functional building blocks: processing and security, sensing and actuation, connectivity, signal conditioning, protection, and power and energy management.
Personal ElectronicsSmartphones, tablets, and eReaders, wearable devices, personal care and hygiene goods, gaming devices, drones, audio-video equipment, and virtual and augmented reality devices are all examples of personal electronics.

Ⅴ A Piece Of News About the Connector

Rosenberger and STMicroelectronics Cooperate to Develop a Unique High-Speed Contactless Connector Based on 60GHz Wireless Technology

First-of-its-kind device targets medical and industrial data transmission, and other high-bandwidth applications.

Rosenberger, a leading manufacturer of impedance-controlled and optical connectivity solutions, and a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications announced today their collaboration on a contactless connector for ultra-reliable, short-range, full-duplex data exchanges in industrial and medical applications.

The RoProxCon  , a new contactless connection from Rosenberger, uses ST's ST60A2 60GHz RF  transceiver to offer high-speed data transmission while being immune to movement, vibration, rotation, and contaminants like moisture and dust, which can cause pin-and-receptacle interconnects to fail. The ST60A2 combines a high-data-rate transmission with  Bluetooth -like power consumption, paving the way for a new generation of medical and industrial applications that are no longer limited by physical connections.

"We were able to produce a first-of-its-kind module that transmits full-duplex data at up to 6 Gbps with total rotational freedom by combining ST's contactless connectivity technology with our interconnect skills and antenna-design knowledge." The RoProxCon will turn inventors loose to design new applications because it is far less expensive than alternative optical connectors and uses much less power than other RF technologies," stated Folke Michelmann, Executive Vice President Medical & Industries at Rosenberger. "We envisage endless application possibilities for our connector, which combines high-reliability and high-throughput at low power, thanks to our collaboration with ST."

"We designed the ST60A2 contactless transceiver to help customers build dependable, high-data-rate, low-power wireless communications." STMicroelectronics' RF&Communications Division General Manager Laurent Malier noted, "Rosenberger's experience in interconnects combined with our RF chip is an amazing example of the technology's value." "This transceiver has piqued the curiosity of customers from a wide range of electronics applications, and some have voiced a need for a module that contains the antenna. Our collaboration with Rosenberger satisfies that demand."

The ST60A2 from STMicroelectronics provides dependable, point-to-point high-data-rate transmission of up to 6.25 Gbps over short distances – all while consuming very little power. The chip ST60A2 is well suited to industrial markets, operating across a wide temperature range of -40 to +105°C. The chip is the smallest device on the market, with a package footprint of 2.2 x 2.2 mm and ultra-low power consumption of 70mW for a durable, totally contactless link.

ST's transceiver is paired with an appropriate antenna in the RoProxCon.  providing good possibilities for the smart factories, medical technology, linked devices, office equipment, conveyor technology, renewable energy, and other high-bandwidth applications.
