Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors MLCC - SMD/SMTMultilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) are a type of electronic component that is used to store electrical charge. MLCCs are made up of layers of ceramic material, with alternating layers of conductive material, such as metal, interleaved between the ceramic layers. This construction allows MLCCs to have a very high capacitance-to-volume ratio, making them ideal for use in high-density electronic systems. Surface-mount device (SMD) and surface-mount technology (SMT) refer to the process of mounting electronic components onto a printed circuit board (PCB) using a surface-mounting technique, rather than through-hole technology, where the components are inserted into holes in the PCB. MLCCs are often manufactured in SMD/SMT packages, allowing them to be easily mounted onto a PCB using automated assembly equipment. This makes them well-suited for use in high-volume, high-density electronic systems.
