Power over Ethernet (PoE)Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that allows electrical power to be transmitted over standard Ethernet cables. PoE enables devices such as computers, phones, and sensors to be powered directly from the network, eliminating the need for separate power supplies and cables. This makes it possible to deploy and operate devices in locations where access to power is limited or inconvenient. PoE is commonly used in a wide range of applications, including security cameras, wireless access points, and VoIP phones. PoE is supported by a variety of different Ethernet standards, including IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at, which specify the maximum power levels and other requirements for PoE systems. PoE power supplies are typically designed to meet these standards, and may be built into the device being powered, or provided as an external power supply.
