Reflective Optical InterruptersReflective optical interrupters, also known as reflective opto-interrupters or reflective opto-sensors, are a type of sensor that uses light to detect the presence or absence of an object. Reflective optical interrupters consist of an LED light source and a phototransistor detector, which are mounted on opposite sides of a gap or slot. When an object is placed in the gap or slot, the light from the LED is reflected off the object and onto the phototransistor, causing a change in the phototransistor's electrical current. This change in current is used to detect the presence or absence of the object.
Reflective optical interrupters are commonly used in a variety of applications, such as detecting the position of a moving object, counting objects as they pass through a gap, or sensing the presence of an object in a specific location.
