On October 13, Samsung Electronics announced that it will set up a "6G Research Group" at Samsung Research Institute (SRUK) in London, England, focusing on the development of 6G network and terminal equipment technology. Samsung Electronics said the new UK initiative will be part of Samsung's global 6G development project, which spans several overseas research centres. The new research project will be based at Samsung's UK research and development centre in Staines-upon-Thames.
SRUK was established in 1996 as Samsung's first R&D center outside Korea. The technologies it is now developing include various aspects such as communication networks, data intelligence, artificial intelligence (AI), security and the Internet of Things.
According to the interpretation, Samsung Electronics has the will to lead the global market from the stage of establishing the 6G vision. At the inaugural "Samsung 6G Forum" held in May, Samsung Electronics shared its goal to provide the next-generation hyper-connected experience for everyone through 6G. Starting in the UK, the company is expected to continue to expand its specific organisations into global markets to achieve this vision.
Although the current 5G construction is in full swing, in order to compete for the next-generation communication technology highlands, countries around the world have also launched research on 6G. my country attaches great importance to the development of 6G, and the "14th Five-Year Plan" outline clearly proposes to "prospectively deploy 6G network technology reserves".
