Samsung Display plans to increase the monthly production of QD-OLED panels from 30,000 currently to 40,000 next year.
According to Korean media Business Korea, Omdia general manager Jung Yun-seong said at the seminar that in the first half of this year, the production yield of QD-OLED panels of the three displays reached 85%, and the technical strength is very strong.
Jung Yun-seong noted that Samsung Display will be able to add 49-inch and 77-inch QD-OLED panels to its product portfolio due to the increase in production. He estimated Samsung Display's QD-OLED panel production to be 600,000 to 800,000 units in 2023, and 1.4 million to 1.6 million TVs. He expects total annual output of 2 million to 2.4 million panels next year.
Choi Joo-sun, president of Samsung Display, said in July that the company's large panel division achieved an 85 percent yield rate in QD-OLED panel production, up from 50 percent in November last year.
It is reported that Sony and Dell have respectively launched TVs and gaming monitors equipped with Samsung Display QD-OLED panels, and Samsung Electronics has also launched QD-OLED TVs in North America and Europe.
