According to Taiwanese media "United Daily News", TSMC's supply chain revealed that TSMC's Arizona wafer fab will cut into 3nm in the future. It is estimated that the monthly production capacity will increase to 40,000 pieces in 2026, and a mixed production model of 5nm and 3nm will be adopted. .
The report pointed out that TSMC's US plant will hold the "first machine transfer" ceremony next month, and representatives of Applied Materials, Colin, Kelei, and ASML will be invited to attend.
It is reported that the planned manufacturing process of TSMC's US plant is 5 nanometers. The plant has been put into operation at the end of July. It is expected that the first phase will be mass-produced in 2024, and the first phase has a monthly production capacity of 20,000 pieces. However, due to the vast land area of TSMC's Arizona plant, covering an area of about 445 hectares, it has been reported many times before that TSMC will expand its investment plan in Arizona and is expected to build 6 fabs.
Earlier, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, speaking at an investment conference during his visit to Taipei, recalled meeting with TSMC leadership in 2017, and then TSMC announced the investment in 2020, "Just over two years later, TSMC completed the factory. Construction of major facilities continues to make excellent progress. With TSMC's historic investment, about two dozen Taiwanese suppliers have found Arizona a good place to invest."
