Nikkei Chinese website reported on November 2 that Japan’s Toyo Tanso will increase the production of carbon fiber components used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and will invest about 7 billion yen in a factory in Kagawa Prefecture to increase production capacity by 2025. 1.5 times the current value.
Toyo Tanso believes that in fields such as 5G base stations and pure electric vehicles (EVs), semiconductor demand is expected to grow in the medium and long term. Its proposed goal is to increase the operating income of semiconductor-related components to more than 20 billion yen by fiscal 2026 to nearly double that of fiscal 2021.
Hideki Kiku, executive director of Toyo Tanso, said that semiconductor demand has fluctuated slightly, but will continue to grow in the long run. Especially with high-quality products such as SiC power semiconductors as the center, there is a strong demand from customers to increase the production of components.
