Korean equipment supplier HB Solution will supply Samsung Display by the end of this month with quantum dot (QD) inkjet equipment that will be used for the QD color conversion layer used in QD-OLED panels produced at Samsung Display's Q1 production line.
According to Korean media TheElec, HB Solution said earlier this month that it had signed a 14.5 billion won equipment supply contract with Samsung Display, but did not disclose specific details.
Earlier, Omdia general manager Jung Yun-seong said at the seminar that in the first half of this year, the production yield rate of QD-OLED panels of the three displays reached 85%, and the technical strength is very strong. The company plans to increase the monthly production of QD-OLED panels from the current 30,000 to 40,000 next year.
Jung Yun-seong noted that Samsung Display will be able to add 49-inch and 77-inch QD-OLED panels to its product portfolio due to the increase in production. He estimated Samsung Display's QD-OLED panel production to be 600,000 to 800,000 units in 2023, and 1.4 million to 1.6 million TVs. He expects total annual output of 2 million to 2.4 million panels next year.
