ASE starts construction of new plant in Malaysia, will invest US$300 million to complete in 2025

ASE held a ground-breaking ceremony for the new plant (plant 4 and plant 5) in Penang, Malaysia today, and announced that it will invest US$300 million in five years to expand its production plant in Malaysia and purchase advanced equipment. The new plant is expected to be completed in 2025.

ASE pointed out that the two new semiconductor packaging and testing plants, with a construction area of ​​982,000 square feet, are located in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone. When the new plants are completed, the total construction area will reach 2 million square feet, which is twice the size of the current plant. .

Looking forward to the future development, ASE added that driven by the demand for 5G, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and automotive electronics, the semiconductor industry is growing rapidly, and professional packaging and testing (OSAT) has become an indispensable part of the global electronics supply chain. OSAT's leading manufacturer, ASE Malaysia, has been providing packaging and testing services to many semiconductor companies since 1991, providing advanced chips for the consumer electronics, communications, industrial and automotive industries.

With the increasing number and wide range of semiconductor applications, the demand for back-end packaging and testing has increased simultaneously, and ASE Group has therefore initiated large-scale investment and expansion. The revenue of ASE Holdings also performed well. Since the end of October, the consolidated revenue was 64.171 billion yuan, a slight decrease of 3.7% from the new high of 66.652 billion yuan in September, and an increase of 21.7% compared with the same period last year of 52.748 billion yuan, the second highest in a single month. Among the consolidated revenue since the end of October, the revenue of packaging, testing and materials (ATM) was 33.21 billion yuan.
