According to TheElec, Samsung will complete construction of its new P3 foundry next year instead of this year as originally planned.
It is reported that Samsung Electronics only started construction of the clean room of the factory at the end of last month. It is worth noting that Samsung earlier this year delayed the construction of a NAND flash memory chip by one month.
The timetable for other construction phases of the plant was also delayed this month, the sources added.
It is reported that the P3 factory, which started construction in mid-2020, is Samsung's largest factory to date, covering an area of 700,000 square meters.
The P3 factory is a hybrid fab, which means it will produce memory chips and logic chips. Among them, the clean room of the DRAM production line in the fab has been completed, and the clean room of the NAND production line may be completed and put into use in the first quarter of 2023.
