India's Vedanta Group signed a contract with a Japanese company to expand its semiconductor business layout

According to reports, Indian mining giant Vedanta Group has begun to cooperate with Japanese companies to expand its semiconductor and liquid crystal production business in India following the joint venture fab project with Hon Hai.

 

The person in charge of the group's business said in an interview with Japanese media in Tokyo, "In terms of semiconductor business, we have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with about 10 Japanese companies." The person did not disclose the details of the signing of the memorandum.

 

Vedanta has reached an agreement with Hon Hai Group to build a semiconductor manufacturing base in Gujarat, India. The source revealed, “We hope to start construction within a month and put the factory into operation around 2025.”

 

In addition to the Vedanta Group, the Indian industrial giant Tata Group recently announced its intention to enter the semiconductor industry, and will invest US$90 billion in semiconductors, new energy vehicles and other fields within the next five years.
