According to Russian media reports, Maksut Shadayev, an official of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, said that a batch of manufactured Russian processor chips were trapped abroad and could not be shipped to the country, which has had a negative impact on the research and development of domestic computer servers.
It was previously reported that TSMC refused to ship the completed Baikal and Elbrus processors to Russia. The company has not yet resumed the foundry and shipment of related products, nor has it refunded Russian customers for unfinished orders.
According to Russian media, it is unclear why TSMC holds ready-made batches of processors and does not send them to customers. An official of the Ministry of Digital Development stated that 15,000 Russian CPU-based computers and 8,000 services were produced in 2022, "If the batch of Russian processors ordered and produced can be shipped, we will have more production this year (2022)."
