According to Yonhap News Agency, SK Hynix said on the 10th that it has begun to improve production efficiency and yield by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in semiconductor processes.
Gauss Labs, an AI company invested by SK Hynix, launched a virtual metrology solution called "PanoPtesVM (virtual instrument)" in November last year, and introduced semiconductor manufacturing and mass production in December last year.
It is reported that the Panoptes VM solution involves the key process of covering the thin film on the chip, that is, the calculation solution is introduced into the thin film deposition process, and the sensor data is used to predict the result of the manufacturing process. It is reported that film thickness and refractive index are directly related to the quality of semiconductors, but measurement in thin films requires a lot of time and resources and is difficult to measure. The report pointed out that the Panoptes VM introduced in the semiconductor process can increase the yield rate by an average of 21.5%.
Kim Young-sik, vice president of manufacturing and technology at SK hynix, said: "Our cooperation with Gauss Laboratories is committed to realizing a smarter smart factory. We will integrate artificial intelligence technology throughout the development and production of semiconductors to ensure technological advantages."
