Infineon leads the EU PowerizeD project to promote the development of a new generation of power electronics technology

According to media reports, representatives from 62 European cooperative institutions announced at Infineon headquarters a few days ago the launch of the Pan-European R&D project PowerizeD, which aims to improve the sustainability and Taking resilience to a new level and strengthening Europe's technological sovereignty.

The project will focus on 17 demonstration application scenarios in the energy and mobility fields, including electrified railways, vehicle charging systems, liquid batteries, etc., the report said. The partners will take an interdisciplinary approach, with topics including modeling and digital twins, federated learning, and reliability and sustainability. Recent project goals include:

25% reduction in losses in power conversion;

Extend the service life of equipment and systems by 30%;

Technically, PowerizeD aims to improve the mechanical and electrical integration of control, drive and switching functions in power components, and promote the integrated optimization of all power switching functions. The European Union will provide approximately 18 million euros in funding for the project, totaling 72 million euros. The project will last for three years and is expected to be completed in December 2025.
