Samsung Bets Against the Wind, Aims to Expand Capacity and Lower Prices Once Again

The news that Samsung aims to expand its capacity and lower prices could be viewed as both positive and negative for the electronic component business, depending on one's perspective and position within the industry.

Increased capacity could mean that Samsung is optimistic about the demand for electronic components in the future, which could be a good sign for the overall health of the industry. Lower prices could also make Samsung's components more accessible to a wider range of customers, potentially increasing demand further.

South Korean tech giant Samsung is said to be the first to launch a price blitz on contract wafers, cutting prices for mature processes by as much as 10%. It is reported that the price war has been effective, with a price reduction strategy, Samsung Electronics has successfully won part of the Taiwan Netcom chip factory orders.

In addition to cutting prices to grab production capacity in wafer foundry, Samsung has also made two other recent announcements worth noting. One is the memory plant, Samsung Xi 'a Phase III project 12-inch wafer plant is expected to start construction in mid-February. The other is the advanced process catch-up, Samsung announced cooperate with Google and AMD to launch a new generation of processors Exynos 2500. Or will accelerate the advanced process of research and development progress, shorten the gap with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing.

Cut costs grab mature process orders, bucking the trend to expand memory capacity, bet heavily on advanced process research and development...... In the face of the global semiconductor industry downturn, Samsung Electronics has once again launched a battle to expand the market against the trend.
