Huawei Advances Software Design Tools, Plans to Expand Market Capabilities

According to a report by Caijing Eleventh, Huawei's rotating chairman, Xu Zhijun, revealed the latest progress of Huawei's software design tools at the company's summary and commendation meeting for the first time.

Xu Zhijun pointed out that Huawei has completed the localization of EDA tools with a process node of 14nm or higher in the chip field and will complete comprehensive verification this year. The company's three R&D production lines for hardware, software, and chips have currently completed the replacement of 78 software tools for software/hardware development, which can basically guarantee the continuity of R&D work. It is reported that Huawei should be the first company in China to develop a full set of software design tools for the three R&D production lines of hardware, software, and chip development at the same time.

According to Xu Zhijun's speech, Huawei's latest plan is to open some software design tools through Huawei Cloud for external use. This implies a message that Huawei does not rule out expanding its market ability in the field of basic software.

Huawei's founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, recently stated that Huawei completed the replacement development of more than 13,000 components and the repeated replacement development of more than 4,000 circuit boards in three years. According to Beijing Daily, signals revealed at another internal meeting indicate that breaking the dependence on Western product development tools has been regarded by Huawei as a necessary breakthrough like "Wujiang danger."

Ren Zhengfei said that Huawei has completely made its own management system MetaERP software using its own operating system, database, compiler, and language, which has been tested in various departments of the company worldwide and passed the company's annual settlement test. They are confident in promoting it externally. In addition, many design tools will also be made available to the public through the cloud.
