Do you want to DIY a high-resolution camera with a wide-angle lens using a damaged dash cam? If you do, follow this article.
If you have a damaged dashcam and have already replaced the battery, fixed the lens with glue, and even turned it into a microscope by soldering it, you can further DIY it.
You will need a 40cm 24-pin ribbon cable and disassemble the dashcam to expose the image sensor module.
This is the front of the board.
This is the back.
This is the screen.
And this is the camera module.
Find the cable and plug it in.
Then, connect the ribbon cable to the module, which has 28 pins, by using two wires.
Now, you can use the dashcam again.
You can also add a focus knob to it by attaching a plastic piece to a brushless motor and using it as a lathe.
Make it and stick it on.
The resolution is still quite high and can capture clear 1080p videos, but the wide-angle lens does cause distortion.
Feel free to give it a try!
