FUJIFILM, a Japanese electronic components distributor, is set to invest 15 billion Japanese yen (approximately 3.4 billion New Taiwan dollars) in its Taiwanese subsidiary, FUJIFILM Electronic Materials Taiwan, to establish a new factory in Hsinchu and expand its existing facility in Tainan. This investment aims to enhance the production capacity of key materials for advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes and is expected to create 50 job opportunities.
Today, FUJIFILM Electronic Materials Taiwan announced that it has secured land in the Hukou Industrial Zone in Hsinchu, with plans to commence construction on the new factory in spring 2024 and begin operations in spring 2026. The new facility will strengthen local production and technical support for CMP polishing slurries and lithography-related materials.
The Hukou factory will introduce advanced manufacturing and quality assurance equipment. FUJIFILM Electronic Materials Taiwan states that the new facility will also include storage equipment to facilitate quick delivery and respond to customer demands. Additionally, solar panels will be installed to reduce environmental impact. The offices of the adjacent first and second factories will be consolidated into the new facility to optimize inter-factory operations.
FUJIFILM Electronic Materials Taiwan further highlights that its third factory, located in the Southern Science Park, initiated equipment and production line expansion in September of last year, with plans to add a new CMP polishing slurry production line by spring 2024.
The estimated total investment for the Hukou factory construction and the expansion of the Southern Science Park facility by FUJIFILM Electronic Materials Taiwan is around 15 billion Japanese yen (approximately 3.4 billion New Taiwan dollars). It is anticipated that these investments will generate 50 local job opportunities.
