Samsung Halts Evaluation of Switching Default Search Engine on Devices

According to the latest report from The Wall Street Journal, Samsung will not be switching the default search engine on its smartphones from Google to Bing in the near future, which is important information for the electronic components industry.

In April of this year, Samsung Electronics formed an internal team to assess the feasibility of changing the default search engine from Google to Bing on its Android phones, tablets, and other devices.

The latest report indicates that Samsung has suspended this internal assessment, and informed sources revealed that Samsung did initially consider changing the default search engine but decided against making any "significant" changes after a brief evaluation.

The report highlights that most Samsung Android phone users prefer to install their own applications, such as using the Chrome browser instead of the native browser. Samsung has decided to halt this internal assessment because changing the default search engine could potentially affect its other business dealings with Google.

Samsung's majority of mobile devices heavily rely on Google's Android operating system. Google customizes its applications to be compatible with Samsung's foldable smartphones. Additionally, Google purchases storage chips from Samsung and utilizes the company's contract chip manufacturing services.
