Synopsys and Arm Enhance Collaboration for Advanced Mobile Chip Designs

Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a leading provider of electronic design automation (EDA) and intellectual property (IP) solutions, announced its enhanced collaboration with Arm to address the challenges of designing highly complex mobile chips using advanced processes as low as 2 nanometers. The collaboration is based on Arm's 2023 Total Compute Solutions (TCS23) and aims to strengthen their partnership in AI-enhanced design for electronic components.

Synopsys offers optimized EDA and IP solutions as part of Arm's new computing platform, including the Synopsys.ai AI-driven EDA solution, Synopsys interface and security IP, and Synopsys PVT IP for chip lifecycle management. These solutions enable Arm to achieve industry-leading performance and power efficiency in high-end smartphones and virtual/augmented reality applications. The collaboration builds upon the long-standing partnership between the two companies and accelerates the delivery of high-performance Arm-based SoC solutions to their mutual customers.

Shankar Krishnamoorthy, General Manager of the EDA division at Synopsys, stated, "As advanced mobile devices continue to add new features and optimize performance and efficiency, the design challenges increase exponentially. By optimizing EDA and IP solutions in collaboration with Arm, we can help our mutual customers address the increasingly complex challenges of design, IP integration, verification, and software development for multi-die system integration. The integration of Synopsys.ai EDA solutions into our collaboration marks a new phase, where Synopsys and Arm, as semiconductor industry leaders, leverage their respective strengths to accelerate the realization of Arm-based SoC designs."

Chris Bergey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Endpoint Business at Arm, commented, "Arm's new 2023 Total Compute Solutions take a system-level approach to design, providing market-specific technologies that enable customers to achieve the computational performance required for the next generation of visual computing experiences. Through our collaboration with Synopsys and their AI-driven EDA solution and silicon-proven IP, customers can further enhance product performance and fully leverage the advantages of advanced processes."

Overall, this collaboration between Synopsys and Arm aims to empower  the electronic components industry to overcome the design challenges posed by advanced mobile chip technology, enabling them to deliver high-performance and energy-efficient Arm-based System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for various applications.
