Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) recently unveiled two new fixed-gain infrared (IR) sensor modules: TSSP93038DF1PZA and TSSP93038SS1ZA. These modules are designed to enhance the stability of outdoor sensor applications while reducing costs. They come in compact sizes and can operate reliably even under direct sunlight, making them ideal for the electronic component industry.
The TSSP93038DF1PZA and TSSP93038SS1ZA sensor modules feature a typical irradiance of 1.3 mW/m2 and utilize the small-sized Minimold package. They offer sufficient sensitivity to support grid applications.
These new Vishay Semiconductors devices provide controllable sensitivity and eliminate unnecessary pulses when operating under direct sunlight. They offer stable output intensities without requiring extremely low forward current for short-range reflection and proximity applications, ensuring reliable performance.
With a rapid response time of 260 μs and extended detection ranges of up to 1 meter using TSAL6100 at 100 mA, the TSSP93038DF1PZA and TSSP93038SS1ZA sensor modules are highly effective. For curtain applications, they can achieve a detection distance of up to 11 meters. By using more focused emitters like VSLY5940 or adjusting the forward current of the emitters, the detection range can be further extended.
These sensor modules cater to a wide range of applications, including toys, remote-controlled aircraft, robots, proximity switches, traffic signal and parking lot occupancy detection, access control and water level sensing, sports games, lawnmower robot grids, as well as reflective sensing in hand dryers, paper towel or soap dispensers, automatic faucets, restrooms, vending machine drop detection, safety gates, and pet doors.
Operating at a voltage range of 2.0 V to 3.6 V and consuming only 0.35 mA of supply current, the TSSP93038DF1PZA and TSSP93038SS1ZA sensor modules are sensitive to a carrier frequency of 38 kHz. They can receive infrared pulses from emitters with a peak wavelength of 940 nm. These modules are designed to resist power supply voltage ripple noise, provide electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and include an infrared filter to block visible light. They are compliant with RoHS and Vishay Green standards, ensuring environmental friendliness as they are free from halogen materials.
