WL-OCPT Optocoupler Series: Dual-Channel Design in DIP-8 Packaging

July 4, 2023 — Wurth Electronics is pleased to announce the expansion of its WL-OCPT optocoupler product series. The latest addition to the lineup is the DIP-8 packaging option. This optocoupler features a dual-channel design with eight pins and a built-in photoresistor. It offers the convenience of controlling two independent circuits with a single component.

The WL-OCPT optocoupler maintains a stable current transfer ratio (CTR) across a wide temperature range (-55 to +110°C), making it suitable for various applications. It has received the DIN-EN-60747-5-5 certification, ensuring a high insulation voltage of up to 5000 V. With a collector-emitter voltage of 80 V and a maximum forward current of 60 mA, it delivers reliable performance.

Wurth Electronics' optocouplers are ideal for power supplies, chargers, computers, microprocessors, instruments, ammeters, and smart meters, offering space-saving solutions. During testing with an input current of 5 mA and a collector-emitter voltage of 5 V, the dual-channel WL-OCPT chip demonstrates a CTR value range of 130-400% across different binning grades.

The optocoupler in DIP-8 packaging is available in standard, M, S, and SL lead frame variations. These variations can be easily distinguished by the solder pad pattern on the printed circuit board (PCB). The lead frames, made of copper, ensure excellent solderability and reliability.
