Vishay TMBS Rectifiers: Efficient Electronics

Vishay Intertechnology, a prominent electronic components manufacturer, has unveiled five new series of surface-mount trench MOS barrier Schottky (TMBS®) rectifiers. The new series, namely VxNL63, VxNM63, VxN103, VxNM103, and VxNM153, offer efficient and space-saving solutions for the electronic components industry in the 60V, 100V, and 150V range.

These rectifiers come in a compact DFN3820A package with solderable side pads, making them ideal for electronic applications. With a rated current of 7A, these devices surpass industry standards and boast a 50% higher current density than traditional SMA (DO-214AC) package devices and a 12% higher current density than SMF (DO-219AB) package devices. Moreover, each product in the series has an automotive-grade AEC-Q101 certification option.

Vishay General Semiconductor introduces the innovative Vishay Power DFN series DFN3820A package for the rectifiers. This package has a small footprint of 3.8mm x 2.0mm and a slim thickness of 0.88mm, allowing efficient utilization of PCB space. Compared to traditional packages like SMB (DO-214AA), SMA (DO-214AC), and SOD128, the DFN3820A package reduces dimensions by 60%, 44%, and 35% respectively. The rectifiers also exhibit optimized copper material design and advanced chip mounting technology, resulting in excellent thermal performance and the ability to operate at higher rated currents. The rated current of these rectifiers is equal to or higher than SMA (DO-214AC), SMB (DO-214AA), and SOD128 package devices.

These versatile rectifiers find applications in various fields, including low-voltage high-frequency inverters, DC/DC converters, free-wheeling diodes, buffer circuits, polarity protection, reverse current blocking, and LED backlighting. In the automotive sector, they serve airbag, motor, and fuel pump electronic control systems in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric cars (HECs). They are also used in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), laser radar, camera systems, 48V power systems, chargers, and battery management systems (BMS). Additionally, they enhance performance in power generation, distribution, and storage; industrial automation equipment and tools; consumer electronics and appliances; laptops and desktop computers; as well as communication devices.

The VxNL63, VxNM63, VxN103, VxNM103, and VxNM153 rectifiers offer advanced features, including a wide operating temperature range of up to +175 °C and a low forward voltage drop of 0.45V. These attributes not only meet but surpass industry standards, resulting in reduced power consumption and improved efficiency. The rectifiers come in the user-friendly DFN3820A package, which simplifies the inspection process with its solderable side pads, eliminating the need for X-ray inspection. Furthermore, they are highly suitable for automated pick-and-place assembly processes, conform to the Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) 1 per J-STD-020 standard, and have a maximum lead-free peak temperature of 260 °C. The devices comply with RoHS standards, are halogen-free, and feature matte tin-plated pins that meet level 2 solder whisker testing requirements of JESD 201 standard.
