According to a recent report from Taiwan's Economic Daily News, the release of Huawei's latest Mate 60 Pro series of smartphones has garnered significant attention in the market. While these devices may face stiff competition from flagship models by iPhone and Samsung, they have implications for various segments of the electronics supply chain.
Market analysts anticipate that Huawei's new smartphone offerings will impact related industries such as PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacturers and CCL (Copper-Clad Laminate) material suppliers due to increased shipments and potential inventory management benefits.
Chinese mainland brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, and Honor, which have overlapping market positioning and sales regions with Huawei, are expected to experience varying levels of sales decline, ranging from 4% to 9%, in the coming year. However, a resurgence in smartphone shipments is projected for the latter half of this year, driven by market leaders like Apple and Huawei.
The precise forecasts for Huawei's smartphone shipments this year are currently subject to speculation. Conservative and average estimates suggest that the Mate 60 series and other models may reach between 6 to 10 million units in shipments. More optimistic projections anticipate around 20 million units shipped in the latter half of the year, which could have a direct impact on non-Apple smartphone brands in mainland China.
Leaked information indicates that both the Huawei Mate 60 series and Mate X5 foldable phones feature the advanced Kirin 9000S 5G chipset. Notably, the Mate 60 series has already surpassed 600,000 units in activations. Huawei's previous orders for 5G chips, while not entirely allocated to the Mate 60 series, prioritize addressing various product lines, including the Pocket foldable phone, MatePad tablet, nova series, and other forthcoming Kirin 5G products slated for release later this year.
