Renesas Boosts AIoT Dominance with Reality AI & e2 Studio

On September 21, 2023, Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a leading global provider of semiconductor solutions, unveiled a significant breakthrough in its technology portfolio. The company has successfully established seamless integration between its flagship Reality AI Tools® and the e2 studio integrated development environment. This achievement empowers design professionals to effortlessly exchange data, projects, and AI code modules between these two crucial software platforms. Furthermore, Renesas has integrated real-time data processing modules into its renowned MCU Software Development Toolkit, simplifying data collection from both Renesas' proprietary toolkit and customer hardware utilizing Renesas MCUs. This integration is set to significantly streamline the design process for Internet of Things (IoT) edge applications, as well as terminal Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Tiny Machine Learning (Tiny ML) solutions.

Renesas, since its acquisition of Reality AI in 2022, has been committed to advancing and simplifying AI design processes. The Reality AI Tools, designed to support comprehensive AI application product development, facilitate automatic exploration of sensor data and the generation of optimized models. In a significant development, Renesas has bridged the gap between Reality AI Tools and the e2 studio environment, used for programming Renesas MCUs, establishing a seamless data conduit. This enables the smooth transfer of sensor data collected from Renesas MCU development kits, as well as data visualization and annotation conducted within the e2 studio environment, into projects associated with Reality AI Tools. Additionally, users now have the capability to download and integrate AI/ML classifiers generated by Reality AI Tools into the e2 studio environment.
