If you've encountered persistent display issues with your long-utilized DIY M8 V7 power supply, the culprit may be traced to the 10K potentiometer responsible for contrast adjustment. These adjustable resistors are prone to malfunction even after replacement, prompting a practical solution: transitioning to a 12864 VFD display from the problematic 1604 display.

Maintaining a purely linear configuration in the adjustable power supply section, the digital board benefits from a switching power supply. Addressing the high display current of the VFD, a dedicated power supply was engineered by modifying a mobile phone charger board. Notably, a switch from the STC 12C56S2 to the 15W408AS rectifies character loss issues attributed to inadequate speed.
