Intel Foundry Services: Roadmap Revealed on Feb 21

Intel has officially announced the Intel Foundry Services Direct Connect event (IFS Direct Connect), scheduled for February 21 in California, USA. The event will unveil the latest updates on Intel's foundry business and process roadmap. The opening keynote, featuring Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger and Stuart Pann, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel Foundry Services, will be live-streamed, showcasing Intel's transformative vision for the semiconductor foundry industry as a fully integrated system factory tailored for the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Remote participation during the conference will include insights from key figures such as U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Raimondo, and Microsoft's Chairman and CEO, Nadella. Executives from prominent companies, including Arm, Broadcom, MediaTek, TSMC, Siemens, and others, are expected to attend.

The conference will conclude with a dialogue between Intel CEO Gelsinger and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, providing valuable perspectives on the future of artificial intelligence. Insider reports suggest ongoing discussions within the U.S. government regarding a substantial subsidy exceeding $10 billion for Intel, encompassing direct funding and loans. This marks a significant initiative by the U.S. government to support domestic semiconductor manufacturing.

Following the Intel IFS event, on February 24, TSMC will inaugurate its first semiconductor wafer fab in Kumamoto, Japan. Analysts note the strategic alignment of Intel's activities with those of TSMC, signaling intensified competition between these semiconductor industry leaders.
