Tech Fusion: Tablet Mod & Xbox 360 Upgrade

In possession is a tablet equipped with a 5Y10C processor, boasting a 4GB RAM and 128GB storage capacity. The 128GB storage utilizes SanDisk's SSD technology, operating through the SATA channel, providing a satisfactory speed surpassing that of SDIO. This versatile device supports multiple operating systems, including Win10, Win7, and Linux. Despite both internal and external screens being damaged, the motherboard remains fully functional and capable of booting up, presenting an opportunity for transformation into a compact desktop suitable for running FC simulators.

Shifting focus to a historic piece, the 2005 Xbox 360, its allure marred by overheating-induced CPU or GPU solder joint malfunctions. Nevertheless, its aesthetically pleasing exterior makes it a prime candidate for repurposing as a shell. Post-modifications, the device closely resembles its original state, sans the removed disc drive.

The wireless controller module of this Xbox 360 remains operational. The plan is to craft a DIY wireless controller receiver, facilitating the connection of the existing Xbox 360 wireless controller to a computer for an enhanced gaming experience. The image demonstrates the successful connection of the wireless module to the computer, seamlessly recognizing and utilizing the 360 wireless controller. It's noteworthy that driver installation may pose a complexity, particularly on the Windows 10 platform.

The 5Y10C tablet is currently configured with a WIN7 operating system.

The process of disassembling the Xbox 360 involves following iFixit's tutorial until only the motherboard remains.

Unfortunately, prior soldering on the graphics card renders it non-modifiable. A multimeter inspection reveals all capacitors, including those on the back, to be short-circuited.

For those interested, the capacitors can be removed for preservation. The front interface portion is trimmed off, while the disc drive button, infrared receiver, wireless controller sync button, wireless controller receiver socket, and two USB ports are retained.

The subsequent step involves meticulous wire soldering.

The wireless controller receiver module necessitates a microcontroller to dispatch commands for boot animations and controller synchronization. In this case, an STC15F104W microcontroller is employed.

Upon completion, the components are securely encased in duct tape:

The assembly of the infrared receiver is straightforward, although discerning the receiver's pinout proves a bit challenging. A three-pin component is integrated with an S8050 transistor, connected to a USB2TTL chip. With the installation of IRCtrl on Windows, it functions as a remote receiver.

Subsequently, the motherboard is fitted into the casing, secured, and the antenna for the wireless network card is affixed. USB ports are extended, linking to a 4-port USB hub, branching out to two USB ports, a USB2TTL module for infrared, and the wireless controller receiver.

The original GPU heatsink of the Xbox is covered, and a fan with a temperature switch is added for cooling during elevated temperatures. However, a noted issue is the temperature switch failing to close even when the CPU reaches 80 degrees.

Tracing lines becomes necessary for the motherboard's power switch.

Should the power button on the wireless controller receiver prove ineffective, shifting it to the disc drive button resolves the issue. Consequently, the disc drive button currently manages the power function.

The outer casing of the microHDMI to HDMI cable is stripped, bonded using universal glue. The power cord is extended and securely fastened.

In summary:

· The wiring arrangement may appear intricate.

· Improvement is needed in temperature control.

· The Xbox 360 motherboard exhibits superior craftsmanship, featuring pull-up and pull-down circuits along with high-quality capacitors on each USB port.

· Xbox 360 controllers demonstrate commendable performance, supporting vibration and analog XYZ axis for specific games.

· Bluetooth connectivity extends to Wii controllers for Wii emulator gaming, exhibiting smooth operation with DirectX12.

· The 5Y10C accommodates Win7 but necessitates the installation of the 64-bit version with UEFI and USB3.0 drivers.

· The 5Y10C supports a maximum resolution of 2K, falling short of 4K, presenting a minor limitation.
