MediaTek Launches First 3nm Auto Cockpit Chip

On April 26, 2024, MediaTek announced the launch of its latest Dimensity Auto platform, a groundbreaking advancement in intelligent automotive experiences powered by generative AI technology. The platform features the state-of-the-art CT-X1 model, utilizing a 3nm process, and the CT-Y1 and CT-Y0 models, both leveraging a 4nm process, for exceptional computational capabilities within intelligent car interiors. By incorporating Ku-band 5G NTN satellite broadband technology, in-car 3GPP 5G R17 modem, high-performance Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth solutions, the Dimensity Auto Connectivity Platform provides robust and comprehensive smart connectivity features.

The Dimensity Auto Cockpit Platform CT-X1, CT-Y1, and CT-Y0 harness advanced edge-side generative AI technology to empower cockpit applications. Automakers can utilize the Dimensity Auto platform to enhance intelligent cockpit experiences across a range of models from flagship (CT-X1) to premium (CT-Y1, CT-Y0).

This platform integrates the Armv9 architecture, embedding a powerful AI computing unit and efficient edge-side generative AI technology to optimize AI computational precision. The 3nm process-based CT-X1 delivers strong performance, supporting large AI language models with 13 billion parameters, as well as the in-car deployment of leading large language models (LLMs) and AI art generation tools (Stable Diffusion). It also supports in-car voice assistants with 3D graphical interfaces, driver alertness monitoring, and advanced AI safety and entertainment applications, offering high response speed and low latency.

CT-X1, CT-Y1, and CT-Y0 boast high integration levels, advancing automotive system-level hardware architecture. This enables automakers to reduce development timelines and accelerate time-to-market. For example, the platform includes built-in modems, 5G T-BOX, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The platforms also house a flagship HDR ISP image processor that supports AI noise reduction, AI 3A, and other smart image optimization technologies for high-quality imaging in various road conditions. Additionally, they enable 360-degree external vehicle views, driving records, and in-cabin monitoring for enhanced road safety.

In terms of multimedia, the Dimensity Auto Cockpit Platform supports one-chip multi-screen capabilities, offering cinematic video visuals in the car cabin through MediaTek MiraVision display enhancement technology. It also integrates audio DSP for immersive surround sound experiences.
