DIY Bluetooth Amplifier: JDY-64 & TPA3116 Guide

If you have a spare JDY-64 Bluetooth module with a differential output, you can use it to DIY a Bluetooth Class D digital amplifier. The Bluetooth module used here is JDY-64, and the digital amplifier is TPA3116.

Here are the circuit diagram and PCB layout:

Except for the inductor, all components are standard. The inductor is a Murata A7503AY-100M.

Here's the PCB board:

There are two versions. The first version uses a surface-mount 7805, and with 24V power supply, it heats up quite a bit, feeling warm to the touch only in cold weather. The heatsink area is also a bit small, with a 50*25 heatsink being slightly inadequate.

The second version uses a through-hole 7805 with a heatsink and adds an independent power switch for the Bluetooth module. For testing, I simply shorted the switch.

After testing, with the phone connected and the volume at maximum, the Bluetooth volume set to medium, and powered by 12V, the current is around 0.5A. The sound is quite loud, audible from an adjacent room. There is a power-on surge; turning on the Bluetooth module later somewhat mitigates this, but it is still present.
