DIY Rechargeable Toothpick Box Upgrade

The push-to-dispense toothpick boxes often hold fewer toothpicks, have poor quality, and are not very convenient to use. Infrared sensor toothpick boxes with batteries hold more toothpicks but require frequent recharging. This article will show you how to modify it to be rechargeable.

Why modify it?

· The 18650 batteries in online rechargeable versions are usually of poor quality.

· The bottom charging design is inconvenient. You have to turn the toothpick box upside down to charge it, causing the toothpicks to spill out.

The mold, battery version, and rechargeable version are the same, but the bottom battery cover design is inconvenient. You need to turn it upside down to charge, and it still uses a Micro USB port. Additionally, the battery compartment is short, making it difficult to install AA batteries.

The built-in 18650 battery slot is a good feature. You can install a 4056 charging module with a Type-C port through an opening.

For wiring, use a 1N4007 diode to step down the voltage for the toothpick box. Even though there is a clip, use a small amount of AB glue to secure the battery so it doesn’t fall out.

The charging indicator light can shine through the toothpick box, showing the charging status.

Summary:

This toothpick box works well, with sensitive sensors that dispense one toothpick at a time without jamming, and it doesn’t require specific types of toothpicks.
