Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Price Hikes 20%, 8s Gen4 Arrives Q1 2025

Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon 8s Gen3, just a few months after the launch of its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen3 SoC. This new System on Chip (SoC) is designed as a more accessible version of the flagship model, offering smartphone manufacturers a chance to deliver devices at lower price points without compromising on essential high-end features.

Looking ahead, the Snapdragon 8s Gen4 is expected to follow this trend, with a projected release in the first quarter of 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is anticipated to debut later this month in October. Industry insiders indicate that the Snapdragon 8s Gen4 will be particularly significant for Qualcomm and its partners, especially since company executives have hinted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 may come at a higher price point than its predecessor.

Currently, details regarding the "SM8775," which may represent the Snapdragon 8+ Gen4 model, remain scarce. However, there are indications that the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 could feature an overclocked version. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has already been spotted on Geekbench 6, showcasing impressive performance core speeds of up to 4.47 GHz, suggesting that the upcoming flagship SoC may achieve even higher frequency capabilities.

According to knowledgeable sources, the expected unit price for the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is around $240, reflecting a 20% increase over the Snapdragon 8 Gen3. Given these projections, it may be challenging for smartphone manufacturers to release competitively priced devices in the $500-$600 range without making some compromises.
