How can a smart light be transformed into a voice-controlled nightlight? If you're interested, keep reading.
First, you need a Sunlight-powered smart bulb. Start by disassembling the bulb.
Use a saw blade to cut off the base. If there's no glue inside, it will be easier to disassemble. You can pry open the bulb from the seam between the lampshade and the body. Once you remove part of the white outer casing, the lampshade will come off. The lampshade is fixed with clips and soft rubber, so it's a bit tricky to remove it without damaging it.
The bulb has a screw base, so it uses 220V AC input. After testing the wiring, the dual-color LED has a softer color temperature, but it generates a lot of heat. The aluminum light panel gets hot enough to burn your hand in under a minute, so it needs to be removed and set aside.
12V is more common, so this DIY project involves converting it to 12V. The entire circuit needs to be modified, as shown in the diagram below. The two PCB wires on the left control the cool white and warm white colors, with no PWM dimming. The light panel has a control chip. After removing the light panel, you directly add a transistor (connected by the red wire on the right).
However, with this method, the transistor does not switch off completely. Adding a diode in series with the control line won't help, but if you've already done so, don't touch this part.
On the back of the control board, there is a Wi-Fi module that requires 3.3V. The rectifier bridge on the upper and lower parts of the board has been cut, revealing the 3.3V regulator. So, you can add a 12V to 3.3V power board.
Next, prepare another 36V light panel. Cut the wires and redo them to adapt to 12V.
Reassemble the light casing.
Use glue to attach two LEGO pieces.
You can assemble it like this.
Now, it's possible to control the light's switch and brightness with voice commands.
Here's how it looks at the brightest setting.
And here's how it looks at the dimmest setting.
Finished!
