Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation (VIS) reported a consolidated revenue of approximately NT$34.57 billion for November 2024, marking an 18.31% increase compared to NT$29.22 billion in November 2023. The company's spokesperson and Vice General Manager, as well as Chief Financial Officer, Huang Hui-Lan, noted that despite the growth year-over-year, the November revenue saw a slight decrease of about 8.86% compared to NT$37.93 billion in October, primarily due to a reduction in wafer shipments.
For the period from January to November 2024, VIS's consolidated revenue reached NT$397.52 billion, an increase of approximately 14.35% compared to NT$347.63 billion in the same period of 2023.
In related news, on December 4, VIS and NXP Semiconductors held the groundbreaking ceremony for their 12-inch (300mm) wafer fabrication plant in Tampines, Singapore. The joint venture, established in September 2024, is expected to begin mass production in 2027. Upon successful ramp-up of the first plant, VIS and NXP will evaluate the potential for expanding operations, including the construction of a second facility. By 2029, the new plant is projected to reach a monthly production capacity of 55,000 12-inch wafers, creating around 1,500 jobs. The facility will focus on manufacturing mature process chips ranging from 130nm to 40nm, catering to industries including automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, and mobile products.
VIS Chairman Fang Lue recently expressed confidence in the company's 12-inch wafer expansion plan, stating, "Both the management team, the board, and external stakeholders are optimistic about the 12-inch initiative. We expect that, five years after the plant reaches full capacity, VIS's revenue will double from the current NT$50 billion to NT$100 billion."
