On December 11, FPGA company Lattice introduced a range of new hardware and software solutions at the 2024 Developer Conference, including the Nexus 2 small FPGA platform, mid-range FPGA devices Avan 30 and Avant 50, as well as updated versions of Lattice design software tools and application solutions.
The Lattice Nexus 2 small FPGA platform, built on the advanced 16 nm FinFET TSMC process, enhances connectivity and power performance while focusing on product security and reliability. It is designed to meet the growing demands for efficient processing, bridging, and control in network edge applications.
In terms of power consumption, the platform reduces energy use to one-third of competing products, while improving power and thermal design efficiency. Energy efficiency for network edge sensor monitoring is up to 10 times greater than competing solutions. The platform also delivers 3.2 times faster MIPI speeds than comparable products, enabling faster connections and data transfer. Its compact size, approximately one-fifth the size of competitive offerings, allows for simplified and efficient system design. Additionally, the platform supports a wide range of features, including a multi-protocol 16G SERDES interface, PCIe Gen 4 controller, high-performance I/O, high-speed LPDDR4 memory interface, and MIPI D and C-PHY. For security, the solution supports 256-bit AES-GCM and SHA3-5121, complying with the FIPS 140-3 Level 2 standard and offering flexible encryption, post-quantum security, and anti-tampering protection.
Esam Elashmawi, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at Lattice Semiconductor, stated, "At Lattice, we are proud to lead advancements in low-power, small-sized FPGAs, ensuring our customers have the best devices, tools, and solutions to design low-power, high-speed, and secure breakthrough applications. From the network edge to the cloud, FPGAs are at the forefront of innovation across industries, and we are dedicated to providing versatile and powerful mid-to-small FPGA solutions to help our customers and partners unlock their full potential."
Additionally, Lattice announced the launch of the Certus-N2 general-purpose FPGA series, with samples now available. The company also introduced updates to its Lattice sensAI (network edge AI), Lattice mVision (embedded vision), Lattice Automate (factory automation), and Lattice Drive (automotive design) solution sets. These updates include performance improvements, expanded IP, demos, and reference designs tailored to specific applications.
