Google Pixel 10 Rumored to Feature MediaTek T900 Modem

According to sources cited by Android Authority, Google's flagship Pixel 10 smartphone series, expected to launch in 2025, may abandon Qualcomm and Samsung modem chips in favor of MediaTek solutions. If this report holds true, it would mark a significant milestone for MediaTek in the high-end smartphone market.

The report indicates that Google is likely to adopt MediaTek's yet-to-be-released T900 modem chip, which is expected to deliver enhanced performance over its predecessor, the T800. The T800, launched in November 2022, boasts peak download speeds of up to 7.9Gbps and upload speeds of up to 4.2Gbps.

Before finalizing this decision, Google reportedly evaluated several alternatives, including Qualcomm's Snapdragon X75 modem chip. Historically, Google's Tensor processors, powering the Pixel series, have been developed in collaboration with Samsung and integrated Samsung's Exynos modem chips.

In addition, industry insiders suggest that the Pixel 10 series will feature the Tensor G5 processor, which is expected to be manufactured using TSMC's advanced N3E (3nm) process technology. This is the same process used for Apple's upcoming iPhone 16 A18/A18 Pro and M4 chips.

MediaTek has been gaining significant traction recently. Its flagship Dimensity 9400 chipset has been adopted by several leading smartphone brands, and reports suggest that MediaTek will also supply modem chips for upcoming Apple Watch models. These developments have driven MediaTek's stock price up by over 30% in the past quarter.
