Strategy Analytics predicts that semiconductor shortages for wireless communication companies will ease. The latest research report "Semiconductor Shortages Impact on Wireless Communications" from Strategy Analytics' RF & Wireless Components Service states that wireless communications have escaped the most negative impact of semiconductor shortages, and cellular infrastructure equipment semiconductors will continue to avoid severe shortages in the future. In addition, the supply of Wi-Fi access points and cellular handset chips will continue to improve through next year.
Christopher Taylor, Director of Strategy Analytics’ RF & Wireless Components Services and author of the report, said: “Semiconductor supply constraints will gradually ease through the rest of 2022 and into 2023 as new foundry capacity comes online. For example, China’s semiconductor production will increase in 2021. With an increase of more than 17%, China's production expansion will accelerate this year, which will help alleviate the global semiconductor shortage. Semiconductor investments in countries such as the United States, the European Union, South Korea, and India are also beginning to bear fruit, and the largest capacity expansion will be Start in 2023."
Stephen Entwistle, Vice President, Strategic Technology Services at Strategy Analytics, added: “While some countries have temporarily imposed lockdowns, better containment will ease tensions through the remainder of 2022. This will help expand semiconductor and electronics Staffing of product factories and maintaining steady consumer demand for wireless products.”
