Samsung Raises DRAM Prices, DDR4 Up 20%

Samsung Electronics has recently implemented a significant price adjustment for its DRAM products, marking the company's first increase in DRAM prices this year and the first such move in nearly 12 months.

According to industry sources, Samsung finalized agreements with major clients earlier this month to raise DRAM supply prices. While pricing details vary by customer, the average price increase for DDR4 DRAM is reported to be in the double digits—approximately 20%—while DDR5 DRAM prices have seen a more modest increase of around 5%.

An industry insider confirmed, “Samsung Electronics has already signed DRAM contracts at higher prices,” noting that this upward trend is being observed across the entire semiconductor industry.

The DRAM market, which struggled last year due to weakened demand and oversupply, is showing clear signs of recovery. Data from DRAMeXchange reveals that the price of mainstream PC DRAM (DDR4 8Gb 1Gx8) began a sharp decline in the second half of last year, with contract prices falling by 20.59% in November 2024 alone.

However, fixed transaction prices for DRAM have been climbing since April 2025. Last month, the price of DDR4 8Gb (1Gx8 2133MHz) for PC applications surged by 22.22% compared to the previous month—its first increase since April 2024.

This rebound is believed to be driven by a sudden rise in inventory accumulation across sectors. PC, smartphone, and server manufacturers are reportedly placing more orders to secure DRAM ahead of potential cost increases linked to trade tariffs and broader supply chain uncertainties.

Another key factor is the widespread perception that DRAM prices have bottomed out, prompting proactive purchasing decisions in anticipation of continued price recovery.

With rising demand and upward pricing momentum, the memory segment is poised for a rare phase of growth, offering promising outlooks for the semiconductor market in the coming quarters.
