Samsung's 89-inch MicroLED TV is here
According to reports, Samsung Electronics has decided to transfer the production of Micro LED TVs from the Vietnam factory to the South Korean factory, and plans to produce 89-inch Micro LED TVs based on LTPS TFT backplanes in the third quarter of this year, which is expected to be on sale before the end of this year. The price is about $77,000.
It is understood that in addition to 89-inch products, Samsung will also produce 101- and 114-inch Micro LED TVs later this year, all of which use LTPS TFT backplanes.
The LTPS TFT backplane used by Samsung will be produced by AUO, and the 34x85-micron Micro LED chip will be provided by Chitron, but in the future, the LTPS TFT panel may be provided by Samsung Display. It is reported that Samsung Display has also developed LTPS TFT backplane products for Samsung Electronics' Micro LED TVs.
Earlier, South Korean media revealed that after the official launch of the 110-inch Micro LED TV, Samsung is stepping up the production and sales plan of 100-inch and 89-inch products.
The 89-inch Micro LED TV was originally planned to be launched in the first half of this year. However, due to the explosive growth in demand for commercial micro LED displays and the COVID-19 outbreak, Samsung’s Vietnam factory was shut down, resulting in insufficient Micro LED production capacity, so production was delayed.
However, as Samsung completed the expansion of its Micro LED production line in Mexico last year and at the beginning of May this year, Samsung expanded its Micro LED production capacity to the Slovakian factory for the production of Micro LED commercial displays. The production capacity of the Vietnamese factory was freed up for the production of 89-inch Micro LED TVs. Production.
