It is reported that TSMC will set up a fab in Kaohsiung to produce 7nm and 28nm processes, which will start construction in 2022 and start mass production in 2024.
At this time, TSMC revealed that by 2025, the production capacity of its mature and professional nodes will be expanded by about 50%. The plan includes the construction of a large number of new fabs in Taiwan, Japan and China.
In terms of capital expenditure, TSMC is expected to reach US$30 billion in 2021, and it is expected to reach US$40 billion to US$44 billion this year, an increase of 33-46.5% over last year. Liu Deyin, chairman of TSMC, pointed out that it now looks like capital expenditure will reach $40 billion next year.
