If you're into DIY power strip extensions, this article might be just what you're looking for.
Let's face it — the wall sockets installed during renovations are rarely enough. Using a power strip is pretty much the go-to solution for expanding your plug space.
One neat idea is to turn a surface-mounted electrical box into a backup power strip. If you've already got one of those 9-hole surface-mounted sockets lying around, follow along — we'll walk you through how to directly attach the plug to the box and turn it into a plug-in power strip.
Here's what you'll need: a three-prong plug. Enlarge the wire exit hole just enough so the plug fits snugly in place.
Add a bit of 704 silicone sealant to secure things. For wiring, use two 0.5mm² wires each for live and neutral, and a single 0.5mm² wire for ground.
Once you've got everything wired up, just close the lid — as long as it fits securely, you're good to go.
You can stick the finished socket onto the wall using foam double-sided tape on the back. And if you ever want to remove it, a bit of adhesive remover will clean it right off.
This kind of multi-plug setup is actually pretty handy. Give it a try!
