According to recent leaks, Nvidia is planning to discontinue the GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards in October, making way for the new RTX 5080 SUPER and RTX 5070 Ti SUPER series. Insider source Moore's Law Is Dead (MLID) recently revealed key details about the upcoming GPUs, including specifications, performance gains, pricing, and release timing.
The new SUPER models promise significant upgrades in both performance and memory. The RTX 5080 SUPER is expected to retail between $999 and $1,199, featuring 24GB of GDDR7 memory, 10,752 CUDA cores, 32Gbps memory bandwidth, and 415W power consumption—offering a 9%-16% performance boost over the non-SUPER variant. The RTX 5070 Ti SUPER, priced at $749-$799, comes with 24GB GDDR7 memory, 8,960 CUDA cores, 28Gbps memory bandwidth, and 350W power consumption, improving performance by 7%-11%. Additionally, the RTX 5070 SUPER, expected at $549-$599, includes 18GB GDDR7 memory, 6,400 CUDA cores, 28Gbps memory bandwidth, and 275W+ power, delivering an 8%-12% boost.
One of the highlights of the new lineup is the enhanced value proposition. The RTX 5080 SUPER and RTX 5070 Ti SUPER will launch at prices similar to their non-SUPER predecessors, but with significantly increased memory. For example, the RTX 5070 Ti SUPER doubles memory from 16GB to 24GB, making it better suited for high-resolution gaming and professional applications.
The release of these new GPUs is expected to impact the second-hand market as well. Some users may upgrade to the SUPER series, potentially lowering the value of existing RTX 5070 non-SUPER cards. For new buyers, the enhanced performance and memory offered at comparable prices make the SUPER models highly appealing.
