DIY Kerosene Lamp to Rechargeable LED

How can you transform an old-fashioned kerosene lamp into a rechargeable LED lamp? If you're curious, keep reading!

You'll need a 5W LED bulb, a 2-series 18650 battery pack with 6000mAh capacity, Type-C charging port, USB output at 2A, PVC pipe, a switch, and some wires.

Once you've finished the conversion, you can quickly remove the batteries, circuit, bulb, and the reflector cone at the bottom by taking out just four screws, restoring it back to a regular kerosene lamp.

First, cut a section of PVC pipe with an outer diameter of 40mm. Install the 2-series 18650 battery pack inside, and fix two hex screws at the lower outer side—just like you'd secure a computer motherboard. At the top, slot in a universal perforated board with AB glue, then solder the charging/discharging module and the USB female port onto it.

Next, cut the bottom of a soda can. Bend the outer edge to grip the top of the glass lampshade, and make a hole in the inner side to hold the LED bulb. Then secure it with three self-tapping screws. Cut a fan-shaped section from the can's outer surface, bend it into a cone, glue it firmly, and press the outer edge flat so it can be tucked under the glass lampshade.

After that, solder the switch and wiring, insert the switch and PVC pipe into the kerosene lamp's chimney, and secure everything with screws. Finally, position the LED bulb in the glass lampshade and push the reflector cone under the glass—done!
