NVIDIA Invests $2B to Expand CoreWeave AI Centers

NVIDIA has recently announced an additional $2 billion investment in CoreWeave, signaling a deeper partnership aimed at accelerating the build-out of AI data centers. As artificial intelligence continues to drive unprecedented demand for computing power and energy resources, the collaboration strengthens the infrastructure foundation needed to support next-generation AI workloads.

The investment was made through the purchase of CoreWeave Class A shares at $87.20 per share, helping the company advance its goal of deploying 5 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030. Following the announcement, CoreWeave's stock jumped 12%, reflecting market confidence in the expanded alliance. The agreement also grants CoreWeave priority access to NVIDIA's upcoming technologies, including new memory platforms and the company's first in-house designed CPU.

NVIDIA has been a long-term backer of CoreWeave, and the relationship has grown steadily over the years. The two companies previously signed a deal under which NVIDIA would purchase more than $6 billion in computing services from CoreWeave. Since entering the public market last March, CoreWeave has raised billions through a mix of equity and debt financing, rapidly scaling its AI infrastructure footprint. The company has secured major collaborations, including a $14 billion AI cloud agreement with Meta and an expanded partnership with OpenAI valued at $22.4 billion.

The latest move also highlights NVIDIA's broader strategic shift. Graphics processors that once powered gaming and cryptocurrency applications have evolved into the backbone of global AI computing. At the same time, NVIDIA is pushing forward with its own CPU development to create a more complete and balanced hardware ecosystem for high-performance computing.

Under the new framework, NVIDIA will provide CoreWeave with comprehensive support to secure critical resources such as land and electricity for data center projects. The companies will also work together to promote CoreWeave's AI software stack and architectural solutions across NVIDIA's partner network, aiming to build a tightly integrated computing ecosystem that benefits developers, researchers, and enterprise users alike.
