SEMI: Global Semiconductor Equipment Sales Hit $135.1B in 2025, Up 15%

According to data from SEMI, global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales reached a record high of $135.1 billion in 2025, representing a 15% year-on-year increase, driven by continued capacity expansion in advanced logic, memory, and AI-related technologies.

SEMI noted that the surge reflects the semiconductor industry’s accelerated investment cycle under the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI). Demand for advanced logic nodes, next-generation memory, and high-bandwidth architectures is pushing chipmakers to scale production capacity at an unprecedented pace. From wafer fabrication facility investments to the rapid evolution of advanced packaging and testing technologies, the global semiconductor ecosystem is expanding both capacity and technical capabilities to support the next wave of innovation.

From a regional perspective, SEMI reported that semiconductor equipment spending in 2025 remained heavily concentrated in Asia. Mainland China, Taiwan, and South Korea continued to rank as the top three markets, collectively accounting for 79% of global spending, up from 74% in 2024. Among them, China recorded $49.3 billion in equipment investments, representing a slight decline of 0.5% year-on-year, indicating sustained focus on mature process technologies alongside selective expansion in advanced manufacturing capacity.
