According to Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), the company has completed its acquisition of power management semiconductor company Empower Semiconductor. ADI had previously announced in May that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Empower Semiconductor in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.5 billion.
Headquartered in Milpitas, Empower Semiconductor develops power management chips used in data center applications. The company states that its solutions are designed to reduce energy consumption and help lower operating costs for data center operators. Empower has also reported raising more than $140 million in Series D financing led by Fidelity Management & Research Company.
ADI designs, manufactures, and markets semiconductor products for a broad range of applications, including industrial equipment, communications systems, consumer electronics, and automotive technologies.
Commenting on the acquisition, Vincent Roche said, “As AI infrastructure reshapes power delivery, energy has become a critical constraint on system-level performance. Empower’s technology was purpose-built to eliminate this bottleneck and will bring new levels of efficiency and performance to AI processors.”
The acquisition strengthens ADI’s portfolio in power management semiconductors and is expected to enhance its ability to support the growing power delivery requirements of AI infrastructure and next-generation data center applications.
