According to industry sources, South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) chip design company DeepX has secured a new round of funding at a valuation of approximately four times higher than its previous level, highlighting growing investor interest in AI semiconductor companies.
Sources familiar with the matter said DeepX’s latest funding round values the company at around 3.14 trillion Korean won (approximately $2.2 billion). The company has reportedly signed the initial agreement for its Series D financing round, securing 42 billion Korean won from existing investors, including BNW Investment Co. and DS Asset Management Co.
DeepX is also in discussions for additional funding and aims to raise up to 300 billion Korean won by September, according to sources. Following the completion of the round, the company is targeting a valuation of around 3.5 trillion Korean won.
Founded with a focus on developing dedicated AI semiconductor architectures, DeepX designs AI chips for applications beyond traditional data centers, where energy efficiency and cost effectiveness are critical requirements. The company is prioritizing markets such as robotics and smart electronic devices, where edge AI processing capabilities are becoming increasingly important.
The sharp increase in DeepX’s valuation reflects strong market confidence in its ability to expand commercial adoption. In April, the company announced that it had signed more than 30 mass-production contracts with customers across eight countries and regions, marking further progress in the commercialization of its AI semiconductor solutions.
