
According to AMD’s latest financial report, the company achieved strong growth in the second quarter of 2026, driven by increasing investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and rising demand for data center solutions. AMD reported quarterly revenue of $11.54 billion, up 50% year over year and exceeding the market expectation of $11.28 billion.
AMD’s adjusted earnings per share (EPS) reached $1.66 in Q2 2026, surpassing analysts’ expectations of $1.62. The data center segment remained the company’s primary growth engine, with revenue more than doubling year over year to $6.72 billion, above the estimated $6.48 billion. Compared with the previous quarter’s $5.78 billion, data center revenue increased by 16.3%.
Looking ahead, AMD expects third-quarter revenue to reach approximately $13 billion, with a variation of plus or minus $300 million. The forecast is higher than the market estimate of $12.52 billion, while adjusted gross margin is expected to be around 56%.
AMD CEO Lisa Su said the company expects data center revenue to double by 2027. She also noted that AMD’s overall revenue growth rate is expected to exceed the 35% target set by analysts for 2025, while annual earnings per share could surpass the $20 target.
As competition in the AI semiconductor market intensifies, AMD is expanding beyond individual AI chips and moving toward complete AI infrastructure solutions that combine AI accelerators, CPUs, networking technologies, and system-level platforms to compete with NVIDIA’s rack-scale AI infrastructure strategy.
Lisa Su revealed that AMD’s planned 2027 rack-scale AI platform will integrate MI500-series GPUs, Verano CPUs, and Pensando networking solutions, while supporting both copper and optical interconnect technologies.
AMD is also benefiting from increasing demand for CPUs in AI servers. Modern AI inference workloads require close cooperation between CPUs and GPUs, allowing AMD to strengthen its position in the server market and increase competitive pressure on Intel.
Earlier in July, AMD announced at its “Advancing AI 2026” event that its second-generation Helios AI server had entered full production. The system combines the MI455X AI accelerator with the sixth-generation EPYC Venice processor, which is manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process technology. The platform is expected to begin shipments in the coming months.
In addition, AMD continues to expand its AI infrastructure partnerships. In July 2026, the company announced a collaboration with Anthropic to provide AI servers powered by MI450 chips starting in 2027, with deployment capacity expected to reach up to 2GW. AMD also reached an agreement with Core Scientific to secure up to 2.5GW of data center capacity, further supporting its long-term AI infrastructure expansion strategy.
